Most Americans are in favor of single-payer national health insurance, yet our representatives in congress just have not gotten the message. So a local upstart coalition movement, Single Pay USA, is hosting a series of rallies to begin at Senator Wyden's Portland office and then move to Representative Wu's office. (They will also rally at Rep. Blumenauer's office, probably the next Thursday.)
Single Pay USA
Rally for Health
Sen. Wyden's Office
Thursday, 6/25/09
Noon – 1:00 pm
This is your opportunity to join with others to have some fun while make a strong statement that it is time to finally fix this nations health care system!
The coalition welcomes and invites all concerned citizens and supporters for Single Payer Health Care to meet outsideEdith-Green Wendell Wyatt Federal Building1220 SW 3rd Avenue(Third & Jefferson)
Let's get the message though to our congressmen.
Keep it positive; keep it fun (we're not tea baggers!)
This is a single-issue event.
Bring Home Made Single Payer Signs!
"Single Payer – Fair for All" "Single Payer = National Health Insurance""Lobbyists –NO / Americans – Yes" " "It's a RIGHT Not a PRIVILEGE""Congress has care – I don't" "Realists for Payer" "Everybody In, Nobody Out""Take the Profit our of Health Care"
This event is intended as a newsworthy event. Our intention is to draw attention to the most important topic in America right now. Congress is listening to lobbyists and not us voters. We need to get their attention and put it back where it belongs.Local news media will be invited.
Our current system is corrupt and bankrupt. A sick uninsured person faces a choice: death or financial ruin. The insured still pay large co-pays and deductibles that can financial ruin them.
A real public option is a little better, but will not save much, and requires convoluted funding to pay for it. Political twiddling will make this solution into a huge failure.
Single payer national health insurance is a far better solution. Instead of you or your employer paying $5,000 to $10,000/yr for health insurance, you or your employer will pay about $3,000/yr in FICA payroll taxes. Health care for all is fully funded and delivered for 50% of the bloated cost of our current system. No more co pays, no more deductibles, no more complicated medical billing systems, no more workers comp, no more insurance clerks getting between you and your doctor.
Single Pay USA plans a second march the following Thursday, July 2nd again at 12 noon. A Children's March for Single Payer Health Care is scheduled in mid summer time and place to be announced.
