President Obama disappointedly says no to single payer
Listen to KPFA 94.1 Tuesday at 9am
See quote by Obama below.
On Wed, June 17, come to SF discussion on Obama's organizing for a "public option"

Dear Single Payer Activist,

Yesterday, President Obama, speaking before the American Medical Assn, made clear his position on single payer healthcare.

He said, "What are not legitimate concerns are those being put forward claiming a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system. I'll be honest. There are countries where a single-payer system may be working. But I believe - and I've even taken some flak from members of my own party for this belief - that it is important for us to build on our traditions here in the United States. So, when you hear the naysayers claim that I'm trying to bring about government-run health care, know this - they are not telling the truth."

This morning at 9am, Amy Goodman interviews Dr Quentin Young from the Physicians for a National Health Program on Obama's views.

DISCUSSION re OFA & SINGLE PAYER, San Francisco, Wed. JUNE 17th, 6:30pm

You are invited to a discussion with other activists who have attended Obama meet ups and the Obama Boot Camp.  We will be meeting at 531 Grove St in SF at6:30pm on Wed., June 17.
A number of our activists have attended Obama meet ups to discuss the public option.  We do not think it is the best use of single payer activists' time to advocate for a proposal which is not single payer.
The best way to advocate for what you want is to advocate for what you want. Attached are PNHP comments made before the Progressive Caucus in DC.

___ I plan to come to the Wed, June 18 discussion.

Thank you.
