CHICAGO, ILL 5/13 - USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD BY THE WH

Next Wednesday in Chicago - The Whitehouse Dept. of Health and Human Services will be hosting another "listening session", this one focussed on "Comparative Effectiveness Research". Included in the discussion there will be "...impact of different options on comprehensive health outcomes, including patient mortality, morbidity, quality of life, and performance of the health system.."

They are taking nominations to speak and it would seem wise that the single payer movement MOVE to nominate a worthy candidate in spite of the constant censure. ALSO, there will be an OPEN PUBLIC PANEL for which people must sign up ON the day of the event.

Hello, people - should there not be a presence by a single payer advocate? This activist suggests using EVERY opportunity to give voice to what reality suggests is the preference of the majority of Americans today - a system withOUT the middle'man' of the private insurance industry - a system which leaves healthcare decisions to doctors and patients vs. MBAs, CEOs, and CFOs.

  1. The session, as I understand it, from http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2009pres/05/20090507c.html seems to be focused on how to spend current funding from the Recovery Act, not on health-care reform. I'm not sure how you could work single-payer into that effectively.
