Jobs W/Justice ACTION RE SINGLE PAYER

Change is Coming to Health Care!
The question is:  what kind of change?

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) has been holding hearings on health care reform, and this week House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that health care reform will come to Congress by the middle of the summer.

Jobs with Justice activists have been working with unions and other allies to promote a range of health care reforms to make care more accessible, affordable, and equitable, including universal single-payer health care as outlined by HB 676, a Bill with 75 co-sponsors in the House.

Tell Congress: Don't Take Count Out Single-Payer

Negotiations are moving forward in the House and Senate and the insurance industry is lobbying hard to protect their profits and to take a single payer system off the table.  Whatever health care reform you support, we all benefit from a full and honest debate of the options, including single payer.

That's why we ask you to contact the Senate and House Leadership and urge them to keep single payer on the table.

Send a letter to the following decision maker(s):
Representative Nancy Pelosi
Senator Max Baucus

Below is the sample letter:

Subject: Don't Count Out Single-Payer

Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],

We are glad to hear of your commitment to craft a health care bill before the summer recess. Health care is in crisis and reform to our system is long overdue.

HR 676 is currently sponsored by 75 members of Congress. We ask that you keep single payer on the table in your upcoming deliberations and give it the same consideration as all other credible proposals for reform.

We all benefit from a full and honest debate of the options, including single payer.

Sincerely,

Take Action!
