Build the Single Payer Now Action Alert List Organizing Dinner

Dear Single Payer Activist,

You are invited to an organizing dinner to increase the number of people on our Action Alert list. Please RSVP so we know how much food to prepare. Our wonderful chef, Vishu Lingappa, prepares delicious vegetarian dinners.

We need a data base of one million people with 50,000 knowledgeable single payer activists who can work in 17,700 precincts on a ballot initiative.
We know single payer will eventually be decided on the ballot in California. If single payer legislation passes in Sacramento, we know the insurance industry will place a referendum on the ballot to veto our efforts. If legislation does not pass, then it will be up to us to run an initiative.

Our task is to inoculate voters from the insurance company's massive and deceitful media campaign. We also know from past experience that the moneyed media will not be on our side.
And we also know from past experience on ballot fights in CA, OR, ME, and MA, that thinking we can win a media campaign is a recipe for failure.
Our best method of communication will be the network that we have built.

In the last month, we have added 500 names to our data base. That is wonderful, but 500 a month equals 6000 names a year. At this rate, to reach 1,000,000 will take 160 years. The question for us is how we speed this process up.

We simply need more volunteers who ask people to sign up. We need an organizational culture that makes it second nature for us to talk with people about single payer.
Maybe we can encourage people to find 10 new people a month.
We have just begun a campaign of organizing classes to help people become daily organizers. We currently have 5 class series scheduled.
