Dear Lisa:

Healthcare-NOW! is committed to educating, advocating, and agitating for the universal, equitable, and humane healthcare system we truly need - improved Medicare for all. Find out about some of the activism that continues to build the movement:

BoehnerJohn Boehner Didn't Cry for Us, He Locked Us Out of His Office
Over 2,100 of you signed our petition asking Speaker of the House John Boehner not to cut or privatize Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. As our Will You Cry for Me, John Boehner? campaign promised, we brought the petition and letters to John Boehner's office last week and asked to meet with him or his health legislative aide, but neither one was available. So we began reading your letters aloud until the Speaker arrived. Before finishing the first letter, the Capitol Police arrived. We handed the stack of letters to John Boehner's receptionist and then were escorted from the office. The police locked the door behind us as we left. See a full account and video here.

NNUJune 22: National Nurses United March on Wall Street for Main Street Contract
With the erosion of living standards for many, and new attacks almost daily from Wall Street-funded politicians, all Americans need a new contract, a binding relationship for their security, for their families, and for future generations. To achieve these goals, National Nurses United is launching a new campaign, for all. More information here.

Call for ArtistsHow Libby, Montana Got Medicare for All
In 2009 when the Washington beltway was tied up with the health care reform tussle, Montana Democratic Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the all powerful Senate Finance Committee, said everything was on the table–except for single payer. Yet when Senator Baucus needed a solution to a catastrophic health disaster in Libby, Montana, and surrounding Lincoln County, he turned to the nation's single payer healthcare system, Medicare, to solve the problem.
