Speaker:
James G. Kahn, M.D., MPH – senior author of the study and a researcher at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California at San Francisco. He is also a member of the California chapter of Physicians for a National Health Plan.
Kahn says "We could provide everyone with good care and remove the complex and onerous cost-sharing that we have in the current system".
In 2013, the United States spent a total of $471 billion in medical billing paperwork and insurance-related red tape. A single-payer system would eliminate 80 percent of that cost.
